The problem with multiple terminals
Sound familiar?
You have 4 terminal windows open, each running Claude Code on a different project. You Alt-Tab through them trying to find the one working on the auth module. One session finished 10 minutes ago and you did not notice. Another session lost its context because you accidentally closed the window.
As Claude Code becomes central to development workflows, managing multiple sessions is a real challenge. Each session runs in its own terminal window. There is no unified view, no status tracking, and no easy way to resume a session you closed yesterday.
The solution: a dedicated session manager
Claude Launcher gives you a single dashboard where all your Claude Code sessions live. Instead of scattered terminal windows, you get a split-screen grid with live status badges, session labels, and one-click resume.
Step-by-step setup
Download Claude Launcher
Grab the latest release from GitHub Releases. Run the installer -- it takes under a minute. Windows 10 or later required.
Run the DNS safety check
Before launching any session, Claude Launcher checks that claude.ai resolves to expected IP addresses. This prevents risk control issues from VPN changes or DNS hijacking. Learn more about DNS checks.
Choose your layout
Select a grid layout: 1, 2, 4, 6, or 8 panes. The free edition supports up to 4 panes. Pro unlocks 6 and 8 pane layouts for power users.
Launch sessions in each pane
Each pane launches Claude Code in a specific project directory. Set the working directory, and Claude Code starts with full context of that project. Sessions show live status badges so you always know which are active.
Drag, reorder, and organize
Drag panes to rearrange them. Put your most active sessions front and center. Use keyboard shortcuts to navigate between panes without touching the mouse.
Resume sessions anytime
Close and reopen Claude Launcher -- your sessions are remembered. Click any previous session to resume it with full conversation history intact.
Tips for managing parallel sessions
- Name your sessions clearly. Use project names like "api-server" or "auth-module" so you can identify them at a glance.
- Use the 4-pane layout for most workflows. It gives you enough sessions to be productive without overwhelming your screen.
- Check DNS before long sessions. A DNS change mid-session can trigger risk controls. Claude Launcher warns you before you start.
- Use keyboard shortcuts to switch between panes quickly. Ctrl+1 through Ctrl+4 jump directly to each pane.
